2022 - 2026 Program Initiatives
Since 1908, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. ® has implemented numerous programs which have contributed to being, “Supreme in Service to all Mankind."
Our 2022-2026 International Programs focuses on Soaring To Greater Heights of Service & Sisterhood. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®. through its 325,000 members and 1,060 chapters, address community needs with programs through five initiatives.
At Sigma Alpha Omega Chapter in Tifton, Ga., our thoughtfully designed programs are uniquely aimed at empowering, educating, and uplifting our community.
Through a variety of impactful initiatives, such as the Inspiring Virtuous Youth (I.V.Y.) Group and our dedicated YLI Scholarship Institute, we earnestly strive to make a lasting and meaningful impact on the diverse lives we touch and serve.

Strengthen Our SISTERHOOD
For more than a century, our sisterhood has served as the foundation for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. to be a strong force for good—in our communities, states, nation, and the world.
We intentionally take time to fellowship and form lifelong relationships based on affinity, love, trust, respect, and shared goals and interests, while concurrently building on our foundation to serve others.
Empower Our Families
Under the Empower Our Families initiative we address childhood hunger, promote positive youth development and leadership, and mental well-being in our community. Our areas of focus are the following:
Childhood Hunger Initiative Power Pack (CHIPP™)
CHIPP provides weekend and holiday meals for children within local communities and is targeted to be Alpha Kappa Alpha’s most ambitious childhood hunger program to date.
Youth Leadership Initiative (YLI)
YLI is a youth-led and highly interactive leadership development program designed to empower and engage youth, ages 11-13.
Mental Health Awareness
During the month of May, which is recognized as Mental Health Awareness Month, we actively engage in raising awareness about critical issues related to depression, anxiety, and trauma. Our efforts aim to educate the community on these pressing concerns while fostering understanding and support for those affected.
Build Our Economic Wealth
Under the Build Our Economic Wealth initiative we encourage and equip our community to build personal, organizational, and community economic wealth. Our focus areas are the following:
Financial Wellness & Planned Giving
Support the growth and stability of wealth management initiatives through our esteemed partners and collaborators.
Sister Circles
Assist in the process of establishing and successfully achieving personal savings, investing, and charitable giving goals that align with individual aspirations.
Supporting Women Entrepreneurs
Promote, celebrate, uplift, and enhance the remarkable achievements of women entrepreneurs within our community.
Black Dollar Days
Leverage our collective buying power as a unified community to strategically funnel essential revenue to Black-owned businesses and brands during the impactful month of June. This initiative not only supports economic growth but also empowers entrepreneurs and enriches our cultural landscape.
For Members Only (TM) Federal Credit Union
The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. For Members Only Federal Credit Union proudly stands as the FIRST, Black-owned, woman-led, sorority-based, and innovative digital banking financial institution ever established in the history of the United States, exclusively catering to members of the Sorority.
Enhance Our Environment
Under the Enhance Our Environment initiative we employ select strategies to optimize our collective ability and improve and protect the environment at scale. We prioritize activities that promote the adoption of more sustainable and responsible practices. Our areas of focus are the following:
Tree Planting
Creating a meaningful and lasting positive impact on the environment is essential for the well-being of our planet and future generations. Through thoughtful actions and initiatives, we can contribute to preserving our natural resources and promoting sustainability in our communities.
Community and Home Gardens
Creating vibrant community and home gardens serves to significantly reduce negative environmental impact while simultaneously promoting sustainable agriculture practices. By engaging residents in cultivating their own plants, we foster a deeper connection to the environment and encourage healthier eating habits, ultimately enriching our community’s overall well-being.
Waste Reduction
Encouraging individuals and communities to actively engage in eco-friendly practices that help reduce household waste is essential for fostering a more sustainable and environmentally-conscious society. By adopting simple yet effective changes in our daily routines, we can collectively make a significant positive impact on our planet's health and future.
Shredding and Electronics Recycling Day
Disposing of unused electronic devices in a responsible manner and securely shredding old paper documents are essential practices that significantly contribute to reducing the burden on our landfills and conserving our precious natural resources.
Advocate for Social Justice
Under the Advocate for Social Justice initiative, we equip communities with the tools, knowledge, and support to activate community voices and mobilize selfhelp to empower communities. Our areas of focus are the following:
Voter Education, Registration, and Mobilization
Empowering our communities to effectively utilize their most powerful tools of community change and advocacy during local, state, and national elections is vital for fostering progress and ensuring that every voice is heard.
Public Policy Forums
Bringing together a non-partisan, open dialogue on pressing policy challenges and the future direction of our great country is essential for fostering mutual understanding and collaboration among diverse perspectives.
Candidate Forums
We are committed to hosting and participating in non-partisan public events that feature candidates running for various offices. These events provide a platform for candidates to articulate and express their positions on a diverse range of important issues that affect our community.
Public Servant’s Guides
Providing concise and informative overviews that highlight the remarkable accomplishments of women of color who are currently serving in various political leadership positions, along with insightful information on the broader landscape of women in politics. This initiative aims to celebrate their contributions while also promoting awareness and understanding of the significant role women play in governance and decision-making processes.
UpLift Our Community
Under the Uplift Our Local Community program, members of Sigma Alpha Omega focus on impacting our local community with service projects that make a difference in the lives of the people in the community in which we serve. Our areas of focus are the following:
