Celebrating 117 Years of Service and Sisterhood
On yesterday, the ladies of the Sigma Alpha Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® came together to celebrate 117 years of service, sisterhood, and excellence. And what an AKAmazing celebration it was!
Our Founders’ Day event was a beautiful reflection of the extraordinary legacy of Alpha Kappa Alpha, the first Black Greek-letter sorority, founded in 1908 at Howard University. As we honored the vision of our illustrious founders, we also recognized the profound impact our chapter has made over the past 35 years in uplifting our community through education, mentorship, and scholarship.
A Legacy of Impact
The Sigma Alpha Omega Chapter has continuously strived to make a difference by:
Providing over $100,000 in scholarships to high school students
Mentoring young men and women to develop leadership skills
Offering educational programs focused on healthy living, financial literacy, and career readiness
Supporting multi-school leadership development and scholarships for minority students
This year’s celebration was filled with inspiration, recognition, and gratitude. We honored esteemed women who have reached incredible milestones, uplifted our community, and carried forward the legacy of service to all mankind.
With hearts full of joy and appreciation, we extend our deepest gratitude to all who helped make this event special. As we continue soaring to greater heights, we reaffirm our commitment to excellence, leadership, and sisterhood.
Here’s to 117 years of service, and many more to come!
